About The Work’s Studio Policies

Welcome to About The Work! We take your success seriously. Please review the following studio policies so you know what to expect and can plan accordingly.

Payment Policy

Tuition reserves your spot in class; classes fill up, so this is the only way to confirm your spot. Tuition is non-refundable, as class is a commitment to yourself, your scene partner, your instructor, and the studio collective.

Monthly Tuition for Groundwork Engineer Level (16 Weeks):

All students are enrolled in our auto-pay system. As a courtesy, we break up the payments into 4 easy installments. Payments are auto withdrawn on the following schedule:

  • PAYMENT 1 – At Time of Enrollment (secures your spot in the program)
  • PAYMENT 2 – Monday of 4th Week
  • PAYMENT 3 – Monday of 8th Week
  • PAYMENT 4 – Monday of 12th Week

By opting into our payment installments, you are making a commitment to pay them as scheduled regardless of absences. If you drop out of the Groundwork Engineer program, you are still responsible for the remaining payments and can receive a credit towards the classes you will miss if your reason for missing is acceptable. If such a commitment cannot be made, we recommend paying for the program in full ahead of time, or not enrolling.

**After completing the Groundwork Engineer Level, you will graduate into Leaping Creator and the monthly payment policy below.

Monthly Tuition for Leaping Creator Level & Beyond:

All students are enrolled in our auto-pay system. Tuition is based on a 4 week month and will be processed on the THIRD FRIDAY of every monthly session for the next up-coming monthly session if no action has been taken by end of day (10pm) on the THIRD THURSDAY of the monthly session to pause your enrollment. Some months have 5 weeks, and tuition will be prorated to account for the extra week. In these instances, tuition will be processed on the SECOND TO LAST FRIDAY of that monthly session for the next up-coming monthly session.

Private Study:
For students interested in private classes and audition coaching, please reach out to us at artist@about-the-work.com for current tuition rates. All private classes adhere to our 24 hour cancellation policy: If you do need to cancel or reschedule your session, we request that you inform us at least 24 hours in advance, or the credit card on file will be automatically charged the full tuition fee.

All Classes:

Tuition will be auto withdrawn from the default Credit Card on file. If your Credit Card is declined, we do have late fees, which accrue at $2 per day automatically. For all payment and tuition related inquiries, please email artist@about-the-work.com.

Attendance & Class Makeup Policy

If you will be absent for class, please email the Studio Manager at artist@about-the-work.com and cc your teacher at least 1 day before class to notify us in advance so that we may prepare, which includes reassigning your scene work.  It is also your responsibility to notify your scene partner.

For Groundwork Engineer Level, students are allowed to make up their missed class in one of our other classes of the same session or in the next available round of the program by requesting and registering for that makeup class in advance with the Studio Manager. The makeup class must be completed, or the makeup is forfeited.

For Leaping Creator Level and beyond, students are allowed to make up a class up to 2 weeks after their missed class. The makeup class must be completed in any of our other classes (not your current class), and must be requested and registered for in advance with the Studio Manager. If you need to miss your makeup, let us know at least 2 hours before the start of class and we can reschedule it. If you miss it without letting us know, the makeup is forfeited.

Please note for your own records which class you missed, as the studio does not keep track of absences. Makeups are extended as a courtesy of the studio and are not the responsibility of the studio.

Withdrawal Policy

All students understand that they are enrolled in our auto-pay system and must notify the Studio Manager at artist@about-the-work.com if they wish to pause their enrollment at any point.

For Groundwork Engineer Level enrollment, students are enrolled for the entire 16 weeks, regardless of absences. If you are unable to complete your current program due to illness or extenuating circumstances, you must notify the Studio Manager, and we may be willing to transfer your non-refundable tuition to another series in the following trimester upon request.

For Leaping Creator Level enrollment and beyond, students must notify the Studio Manager by the end of day (10pm) on the THIRD THURSDAY of the monthly session, if they want to drop the class for the following month. If Studio Manager has not been notified by end of day (10pm) on the THIRD THURSDAY of the monthly session, tuition will be auto withdrawn on the THIRD FRIDAY of the monthly session and is non-refundable.

Happiness Guarantee (For Groundwork Engineer Level Program ONLY):

We believe in our ability to serve our student body by providing quality education. In the first 30 days, if you are not happy with the quality of education and have not learned anything, you must request a meeting with Artistic Director Murisa Harba to determine if our studio is not a fit. We are passionate about our actors learning to think differently so they can up-level their craft, and if you truly feel that you haven’t received any value, we are happy to withdraw you from the program, and cancel your future auto-payments. To be eligible for this guarantee, you must have attended EVERY class in the first 30 days in its entirety, and have made an effort to be open to our methods and style of education.
